Endorsements For Patrick Howe Oil Painting Classes
I am a nurse practitioner and certainly err on the side of caution. I wanted to take a moment to provide reassurance that the new Phinney Center classroom feels like a safe environment. I went to the Sunday afternoon class last weekend and was impressed at how much space we actually have. Patrick has taken a number of really great safety measures, making sure class sizes are limited to accommodate social distancing, readily available hand hygiene products, windows open to circulate air. We are the only people in this building during class time so you also don't need to worry about getting caught in a crowded hallway with all your painting supplies
"Patrick’s class is an excellent choice for painters of any level, and combines a mix of technique, art history, and a little philosophy. Classes encourage exploring individual style and subject matter and allow for participants to discuss their own work in open feedback, and will provide structure if you need it. A social and collegial environment to paint with others. Highly recommended." --Anthony G.
"Patrick has been an amazing teacher. If you are a beginner, he has a lot of structure to his classes and has a plan for growing your skills. He has different (and many!) exercises for you to learn the basics and apply them to paintings that you would be amazed to see come to life. Patrick is very open to new techniques and ideas and you can always explore more about what you want to do."

"I've been attending Patrick Howe's oil painting class for a bit over a year now and I've absolutely loved it. I spent so long thinking I was too impatient for oil painting and he helped chase away those misconceptions so quickly! The course is great for all levels of experience and adaptable to personal interests. Patrick offers many projects to help develop different techniques and styles with oil painting and is very encouraging with personal projects also, happily offering guidance and constructive critiques along the way. I highly recommend this course for anyone interested in exploring the joys of painting."

"When I first started oil painting I was intimidated by all of the materials and didn't know where to begin. I'm so grateful for the opportunity to take Patrick's oil painting class, which helped de-mystify much of what intimidated me about oil painting. Patrick's kindness, humor, and patience make for an encouraging, welcoming, and fun environment where I am able to grow my skills and blossom as an artist."

"I have been a student of Patrick Howe's for at least ten years. In that time, thanks to him, I have progressed from rank beginner to more-confident artist. He has always taken time to be sure that his students understand the concepts he is presenting, something that is uncommon in many teachers. Whether in a studio, or learning the techniques of plein air painting, I have always come away from class knowing more than I did when I arrived. And I have gained a friend as well as a mentor."

"Learning to paint has been a life long desire of mine. I imagined that in order to do that with any success, one would have had to commit their life to the study of it. Patrick has made this learning process so accessible and I could not be happier that I chose to enroll in his class. I've now been painting for a measly 6 or 7 months (although I knew I would be enrolling for future months after the second class) and it's already one of my favorite pastimes and best self-care practices. Patrick is skilled, kind, and knowledgeable, and I plan on staying in the class for a long time to come."

"Patrick is very educated in art and an extremely talented artist but this does not always translate to being a good teacher. But in Patrick’s case, he is an excellent teacher. His critiques are specific and very helpful; never mean spirited. I leave his classes feeling empowered and always further ahead than when I entered. I truly appreciate the online classes."
